The artists will talk about their artistic careers, Art and Theater in Curaçao.

4 artists will discuss their practice, thoughts behind their work, the positions they take, the themes that interest them, and they will share their experiences and observations of Curaçao in relation to art, theater, and culture. Each artist will focus on a specific aspect for one hour, providing a diverse view of the various goals and ambitions that artistic expression can offer. After the public conversation, there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Alisa Anastatia visited art exhibitions and international biennials alongside local ones and will share her reflections on them. Albert Schoobaar, a theater practitioner, seeks to incorporate more art disciplines into his productions to confront the Curaçaoan public with the harsh realities of poverty and acute social challenges. Quinsy Gario reflects on and investigates the strategies that contemporary artists of Dutch-Caribbean descent employ when dealing with the presence and absence of our cultural heritage in ethnographic collections in the Netherlands. Sharelly Emanuelson wishes for an expansion of interdisciplinary research practices, beyond maintaining a consistent practice, and she produces experiments to broaden imaginative power in order to challenge the separation between art and science.
